About

We listen, act, and transform

I founded DelMar Behavioral Health & Recovery with one core belief: healing happens when we treat the whole person with compassion and evidence-informed care. As a PhD in Counseling Psychology and published author, I work with patients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, grief, life transitions, and substance-use recovery. Whether you're struggling with a specific concern or seeking deeper self-understanding, I tailor my approach to your unique needs, drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-focused methods, and other evidence-based modalities. My goal is to help you develop practical coping skills, strengthen your relationships, support lasting recovery, and move toward a more fulfilling life. I offer telehealth sessions and am currently accepting new clients. I'm here to walk with you through whatever brings you in.

Testimonials

“I struggled for years with drugs and alcohol. Working with Dr. Asongu helped me understand deeper issues, including compulsive sexual behavior, that were affecting my recovery. His compassionate approach helped me rebuild my life.”

Gupta

“Our marriage was close to falling apart when we began working with Dr. Asongu. Counseling helped us rebuild trust, communicate differently, and rediscover our commitment to each other. Today, our marriage—and our relationship with God—is stronger.”

Amina and Yusuf

“Growing up in a deeply conservative religious family made understanding my LGBTQ+ identity difficult. Dr. Asongu gave me a respectful, nonjudgmental space to explore my identity, faith, and relationships and become more comfortable with who I am.”
